Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Kingman Cancer Care Unit?
Located in Kingman, Arizona, the Kingman Cancer Care Unit is a committed group of community members who raise and administer funds to assist local cancer patients with their needs.
What services do you provide?
The Kingman Cancer Care Unit provides assistance to local cancer patients for needs not covered by health insurance or other programs. For example, we have a medical equipment loan closet to provide needed medical equipment. We also provide financial assistance for medications, personal items, and travel for cancer treatment. Additionally, we can help with living expenses for cancer patients who are unable to cover costs during their illness.
Who do you help?
The Kingman Cancer Care Unit (KCCU) provides financial assistance and moral support to cancer patients who reside in the Kingman Arizona area. To qualify for assistance through the Kingman Cancer Care Unit, the recipient must:
- Have a documented cancer diagnosis
- Be actively undergoing cancer treatment (chemotherapy, radiation, palliative care, hospice, etc.)
- Live in the Kingman Arizona area, which includes the communities of Kingman, Butler, Cedar Hills, Chloride, Dolan Springs, Golden Valley, Hackberry, Meadview, Peach Springs, Truxton, Valentine, Valle Vista, White Hills, Wikieup, and Yucca.
- Have a demonstrated need for KCCU support.
How can a cancer patient get assistance from the Kingman Cancer Care Unit?
Please talk to your oncologist, cancer patient advocate, or other cancer care professional about your needs. There are many resources for assistance. However, if appropriate, your medical provider will contact the Kingman Cancer Care Unit on your behalf.
Additionally, local cancer patients or a family member can apply directly to the Kingman Cancer Care Unit (KCCU). Please complete and submit a Contact Form. The KCCU Service Committee will review your request and call you to discuss what we can do for you.
Is the Kingman Cancer Care Unit affiliated with any other cancer organizations?
No, we are an independent 501(c)(3) organization dedicated entirely to serving local cancer patients in the Kingman Arizona area. However, we do partner with area medical providers and other civic organizations to eliminate duplication of effort and leverage funding to meet the needs of local cancer patients in their battle against the disease. All Kingman Cancer Care Unit funding and activities stay in our community.
Does anyone in the organization get paid?
No. Kingman Cancer Care Unit members are volunteers.
Where does the Kingman Cancer Care Unit get its funding?
The Kingman Cancer Care Unit is fortunate to receive funding from a variety of sources including individuals, local businesses and organizations, special events, and community fundraisers.
Does United Way support the Kingman Cancer Care Unit?
The Kingman Cancer Care Unit is not a United Way funded organization. However, we are fortunate that during United Way campaigns, many individuals will “write in” the Kingman Cancer Care Unit as their charity.
